How does one thread the line of a spinning reel through the eyelets of a fishing pole?

The spinning reel came already set up; now I must get the line to go through the spinning thing on the bale so it works properly. I cannot figure this out, and it didn't come with instructions. How do I properly thread the line through the mechanism? Can anyone tell me in simple instructions or provide a link with pictures? This was a fathers day gift I'd like to get working! Thank you!
