How to make people think what they are returning to society in lieu of what they are getting –Gandhi-ism?

Selfishness, greed and waste are part of the human condition. Too few young people today are taught good values. Although I don't share a common religion with Mahatma Gandhi, I admired his teachings, his peaceful methods, his abilities to lead by example and self sacrifice. Ecology and Environmental science must strike a balance between man and nature. How do we preserve nature and natural recourse's while providing the basic needs of food, clean water, shelter education and useful work which we all need.
