Swollen hand, should I get a second opinion?

I fell rollar blading on monday. I have pretty good swelling and bruising. I saw a doctor yesterday who took x-rays (2) views and told me nothing was broken. No sling or brace but did give a narcotic painkiller for nighttime. What is wrong with my wrist? How long will it be swollen?
