What shotgun/mic would capture deep B from dj speakers, like those in wedding receptions?

a shotgun mic is absolutely the worst choice for deep b. the shotgun is effective only at voice and higher frequencies. it has no directional boost for b, so that makes the low frequencies sound weaker by comparison. same can be said for vocal mics, they usually have an increased response at higher frequencies to add clarity to the voice. a general purpose omni mic would work best. i prefer dynamic types for field recording so i don't have to worry about batteries, but an electret would work also.
